Despite the country’s political and economic woes, there is no doubt that this bucket list destination is on the rise again. Not only for the more adventurous traveller, Zimbabwe is also a premier safari destination of stunning natural beauty where the gracious kindness of locals will make any trip unforgettable.
The diversity and volume of wildlife is exceptional and, sometimes, to be found quite literally on your doorstep. Competitively priced, safaris in Zimbabwe can be up to one third the price of similar product in Zambia and one sixth the price of safaris in Botswana.
World class accommodation, highly trained quality guides and the breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage site of the mighty Victoria Falls, should put this destination firmly into the number one spot on your bucket list.
Day 01 Victoria Falls
Transfer on arrival at Victoria Falls International Airport to the hotel for check in with balance of the early afternoon at leisure. A sundowner cruise on the mighty Zambezi River above the Victoria Falls is a perfect introduction to this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight at Illala Lodge (or similar)
Day 02 Victoria Falls
Enjoy a guided tour of the Victoria Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world. Marvel at the world’s largest waterfall with its body of water plummeting into the Batoka Gorge below. The afternoon is at leisure to relax, shop for that special African curio, or partake in one of the many adventure activities available (at additional cost), such as the world famous bungy jump from the Victoria Falls bridge.
There will be an early evening transfer to The Boma – Place of Eating for an evening filled with entertainment from the Amakwezi traditional dancers and a superb selection of both European and traditional Zimbabwean dishes for the more adventurous, from mopani worms to warthog fillet and game stews. Return to the hotel after a drumming experience for overnight at Illala Lodge (or similar).
Day 03 & Day 04 Hwange National Park
Transfer after breakfast to Hwange National Park, situated an approximate one and a half hours drive from Victoria Falls. Your home for the next two nights will be Hwange Safari Lodge (or similar) on a full board basis inclusive of one game viewing activity per day. The highlight at Hwange Safari Lodge is undoubtedly the guided daytime or night drives, or you can simply enjoy the parade of animals visiting the waterhole situated in front of the lodge.
