Named after the Maasai people who inhabit the area and the Mara river which flows through this great reserve, the Masai Mara National Reserve is Kenya’s flagship conservation area. A land of abundant wildlife and endless plains a Masai Mara safari delivers excellent year round game viewing. It shares a border with Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and together they comprise the setting for the annual Great Migration. In addition to the teeming wildlife , no Masai Mara safari would be complete without including a cultural experience with the Maasai people.
Some of the finest lodges in Kenya are to be found in the Masai Mara whilst the abundance of child friendly accommodation makes for a great family safari destination. Game viewing is excellent year round and even more so in the Mara’s private conservancies where night drives and guided nature walks are offered as well as game drives. Hot air balloon safaris and cultural interactions with the local Maasai communities form part of the available activities.
