Visiting one of the most beautiful and rugged areas in the world, this Skeleton Coast Fly In Safari in Namibia allows you an unparalleled opportunity to view famous shipwrecks and interact with the nomadic Himba people who live in the area. Light aircraft are used for the different flights providing outstanding aerial views of the coastline, whilst on the ground, land rovers introduce guests to the wide diversity of fauna and flora and the ever changing desert landscape.
A four day safari leaving Windhoek and following the Skeleton Coast up to the Kunene River, being the northern border of Namibia. The safari ends back in Windhoek on the fourth day just before sunset.
Day 01:
Depart from Windhoek, flying over Conception Bay and the famous Eduard Bohlen shipwreck en route to Kuiseb canyon with its adjoining red dunes offering a spectacular view from the air. Fly past the Seal Colony at Cape Cross for a picnic lunch on the beach. Continue the flight over the Ugab, a nearly lifeless “moon landscape” before proceeding to the camp in the Huab River Valley for overnight.
Day 02:
Explore the colourful red lava and yellow sandstone of the Huab River Valley and environs by land rover before flying along the coast to Terrace Bay in the Skeleton Coast Park. The most notable shipwrecks in this area are the Montrose and Henrietta. Access the roaring dunes in the Park by land rover before visiting the beach with its many coloured pebbles. Continue the flight to the Kunene region for overnight.
Day 03:
Considered by many to be the highlight of the safari, the morning will be spent on a scenic drive to visit a settlement of the nomadic Himba people. Continue the flight north to the Kunene River, the border between Namibia and Angola. From the airfield a scenic drive by land rover through the mountains and dunes of the Hartmann Valley brings guests to the overnight stop.
Day 04:
The early morning is spent on the Kunene River on a boat cruise observing the prolific bird life which varies from aquatic species to endemic desert varieties. After lunch at the camp fly back to Windhoek arriving in the late afternoon.
